When the One You Love Is There But Not

When I served as chaplain in a dementia unit at a retirement community I learned that every day I had to introduce myself to my residents. Every day they were so happy to meet me. I’d patiently sit down and listen to their stories as though hearing them for the first time though I knew them well enough to tell it along with the. If I wanted to. I didn’t know these people before dementia so I didn’t mourn the person lost inside. It’s different when they’re family or lifelong friends. Here are some tips to help you relate to,that special someone who seems lost in another world.
