Aging With Style: Do We Really Need to Be Anti-Aging Zealots?

Sitting here dressed to go to work at my part time garden center job I find myself reading about older women and fashion. If you’ve ever worked or shopped at a garden center, you know that the fashion there means well worn jeans or other utility pants a shirt that’s going to get dirty, and comfortable utilitarian shoes. Practicality trumps fashion and we let the plants provide the beauty. A few weeks ago, however, I was reading about older women and fashion.

Finally someone’s getting it: we don’t necessarily need all the anti-aging hype. It’s okay to accept, even to celebrate, the people we’ve become. http://www.adweek.com wrote Why Older Women Are the New It-Girls of Fashion showing people like Joan Didion and Joni Mitchell as models. Another site takes things a step further. Check out the hearing aids on https://www.youtube.com/embed/rJQG2i_ouy0. They’re useful everyday items with style. No! We don’t need to hide ourselves. We don’t need to try to look young. We can be comfortable with ourselves, still enjoy looking great in our own way, and live in joy and gratitude for all we’ve experienced.
